01What it is
Surf Glyph is a surf app with three parts that work together:
- Forecasts: a Glyph Score from 0 to 100 for every hour at each break, with a plain-language reason, the best window of the day and live cams where they exist.
- Sessions: check in at the beach, log your surfs and see the conditions your best sessions have in common.
- Local surf businesses: book lessons, rentals and stays, and buy the photos photographers took of you, with payment and messaging inside the app.
It works in English, Portuguese and Spanish, in metres or feet.
02How we work
- The score is built by fixed rules from public ocean and weather models plus observed wind. No AI decides it, and the same conditions always give the same number.
- Our data comes from public, credited sources: Open-Meteo, NOAA tides, METAR airport weather, OpenStreetMap and Wikimedia Commons. We don't scrape other surf sites.
- Other surfers see your first name only. A crew call never shows where you started, and your sessions stay private unless you share them.
- Bookings and messages with businesses stay in the app, so both sides are covered if something goes wrong.
